Our Story

Care shouldn't
feel complicated.

After years of serving patients, service members, veterans, and families, Jhoana and Randy saw how difficult it was to find healthcare that felt both competent and compassionate.

We created ValorSpring to change that.

Co-Founder & CEO · Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner

For Jhoana, good care begins with listening.

As a dual-certified Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry and Primary Care, she has spent more than a decade caring for adults from many different backgrounds, including veterans, retirees, and individuals who have historically faced barriers to care.

Her own background has also shaped the provider she is today. Coming from a culture where mental health wasn't always openly discussed, Jhoana understands that seeking care can feel unfamiliar or even uncomfortable for some patients. She believes no one should feel ashamed for asking for support—or feel that they have to know exactly what's wrong before walking through the door.

That perspective is part of why she is passionate about making mental healthcare more approachable, particularly for communities where stigma, cultural expectations, or limited access have made getting help more difficult.

Jhoana takes time to understand the whole picture: what you're experiencing, what may be contributing to it, and what you want life to feel like moving forward. Her approach recognizes that mental and physical health are deeply connected and that effective care should consider both.

Most importantly, she wants patients to feel like active participants in their care—not just a diagnosis on a chart.

Her goal is to create a space where you can ask questions, understand your options, and feel genuinely heard while working together toward better health.

Randy Miguel

Founder & Chief Administrative Officer · Army Veteran

Randy's path to ValorSpring began long before the practice opened its doors.

During his twenty-year Army career, he worked behind the scenes of military healthcare—first as a Medical Logistician helping ensure medical teams had what they needed to care for Soldiers, and later as a Medical Recruiter helping bring healthcare professionals into the Army Medical Department. He eventually became a Warrant Officer, continuing his career in leadership and operations.

After retiring, Randy saw healthcare from another perspective.

He saw how difficult it could be for veterans, retirees, families, and people in underserved communities to find care that felt accessible, consistent, and personal. Together with Jhoana, he began imagining a practice that could do things differently.

Today, Randy helps make that vision possible behind the scenes at ValorSpring. While Jhoana leads patient care, Randy focuses on the operations and experience that support it—helping create a practice where people feel welcomed, respected, and cared for from the beginning.

Our Shared Story

One vision, built together.

People deserve healthcare that sees the whole person.

That means listening before making assumptions. Recognizing that mental and physical health don't exist in separate boxes. Respecting the experiences and backgrounds people bring with them. And creating a relationship where patients feel comfortable asking questions and participating in their own care.

That's what Jhoana and Randy set out to build—and what continues to guide ValorSpring today.

We've seen how overwhelming healthcare can be. We're here to make it feel human again.
